Blog #2

What is analysis?  The way I see it, analysis is the process of...examining something through close and detailed processes.  The standard definition of analysis is "detailed examination of elements or structure of something, typically as a basis for discussion or interpretation."  In a sense, this is what I see analysis as.  However, I like to add my own twist to the definition; it is the process of closely examining the basic structure of something to help create a basic understanding of its meaning.  That is how I use the analysis process.  Although, I admit that sometimes I feel my process of analysis is somewhat flawed and ineffective.  Now, in terms of how I will go about analyzing a research topic, I more often than not search for established facts and theories on the subject.  I may not have a research topic as of yet, but I know that I will be doing what I typically do; search for established facts, ask the most basic questions concerning the credibility of the facts, and look for consistency among the facts that I am able to gather.  This is how I usually do my do my research.  Once I feel I've gathered enough facts for my research, then I go about the analysis process that I mentioned above in my own definition.  Hopefully, once I get my research topic for this class, I'll feel more confident about my analysis process.
